Just as with Energon, I suppose.
He doesn't look as bulky as Ratchet, but still very nice.

It's just you.
There's a symbol molded into the back end of the truck, as seen in this pic.

@l3x wrote:Um, those shoulder pads are DEFINITELY supposed to be angled up, not flat.
Yeah, I took a couple of pictures like that but they would angle at the proper angle. If you look at the pictures below where I angled his shoulder pads, something just doesn't look right about them. Plus they don't feel right because the shoulders flop around like that. The pads actually snap into place if you lay them down flat so I was a little confused how his shoulder pads were supposed to work. Maybe I was transforming him wrong or something.
While I think Ironhide looks much cooler than Ratchet, the Ratchet toy actually feels more stable. There were several places on Ironhide that I was worried about breaking while transforming it. The piece that connects his torso to his legs (front part of the truck to the back part of the truck) is pretty small ... it could easily be a place where he snaps in half. The doors also seem like they could break easily if too much force is applied. Hopefully bevcause mine is an early production piece, they'll fix the eyes. He has piping in the back of his head but there's nothing on his face to light up. Maybe they painted over his eyes or something.
He just looks weird in that above picture especially when the pieces won't lock into place.

Don't know all the heads seem out of place like stuck on a perfectly good figure. Blackout is a perfect example, just doesn't seem like it belongs there.

Ironhide.
Ever.
I think Hasbro did an outstanding job making this toy look like his movie counterpart, alot more than Ratchet and some of the other figures (Bumblebee, Barricade etc.). He has a great looking bot mode, and that black pick-up just screams Ironhide to me... can't wait to get my paws on one!

Yet another fantastic gallery of another fantastic toy! I'll definately be getting Ironhide, even if all the other toys suck! Only question now is: will the Takara version be any better? Will I put my faith and money in Hasbro for once? Watch this space...
Blushing, I'm most certainly no God but thank you for the compliment about the gallery. Despite my personal opinions about the robot designs from the movie, the response has been tremendous each and every time I post one of these movie toy galleries. None of the other toy galleries get the response that the movie toy galleries have been getting. Love 'em or hate 'em ... the movie is hot stuff right now.

Haha! Mearly a figure of speech old boy! I was under the impression you liked the movie designs? Am I way off the mark? I'm loving most of them because it's something different from everything that's come before. They certainly reinforce the idea that the Transformers are supposed to be aliens from another planet!! Ironhide and Prime are definately my favourites, pity about Starscream...

I'm pretty torn actually. I feel like I'm going through Beast Machines all over again. The story sounds great. The characters sound great. But the robot designs are not what I had personally hoped for. It really comes down to the robot faces to me, moreso that their more alien-like bodies. I think once I see them in action that I'll have a better appreciation for the toys. Until then, I'm just buying the movie figures to be able to share pictures with all of you of the characters who will be a part of the biggest event ever in Transformers history.

Here's the auction link ... right time, right place.

Seibertron wrote:I keep getting and seeing messages about Ironhide's chest/shoulders being mistransformed in robot mode. I came home from work today and tried messing around with it some more. When the shoulders are angled, it doesn't "feel" right. The shoulder pads aren't snapped into place. If you press on them, they bounce. When the shoulder pads are horizontal (like they are in MOST of the pictures in my gallery), the pads have snapped into place. It feels like how a normal Transformer feels when it's transformed. Do any of you have this figure yet? Do you have any suggestions?
I think you have them right. This auction has them the same way as you:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?siteid=0&pub=5574891718&campid=5336631220&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2FTransformer-New-Movie-Voyager-Class-Ironhide-Test-Shot_W0QQitemZ220078613889QQihZ012QQcategoryZ4696QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem%3F
And this news story has images with them both ways:
http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=9513
I think people get the impression that they should be angled because of FAB Ironhide:

I'm for the most part I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. The only thing I've seen so far that I truly don't like (as far as the toys are concerned) is the Leader Class Optimus Prime figure as pictured here. Didn't they say they didn't want the transformers to be too blocky? That's exactly what I feel happened here, and not in a good way. I think it's gonna look great in the movie, but it doesn't work at all as a toy.
Beyond that it's more the deco than the toy itself. With Ratchet and Ironhide, I can live with the deco they've been given, but they should have been given more G1-accurate deco. Also, I think I've said before the protoform version of Optimus looked more like it should have been an Ultra Magnus. Hasbro could also give it a Nemesis Prime deco (which would actually be even better imo). Ultimate Bumblebee's one the got right on the deco though. I'm finding myself wondering if I'm actually gonna bust off $90 for that thing.
I don't see what the big deal is about the heads though. I could see IDW team up with Dark Horse to do a Transformers vs. Predator storyline based on those heads, and they'd probably be better for when the figures' alt modes were beast modes. On these figures though they're actually pretty good.

Well, the real Ironhide says it the best:

Anyway, I like the Flat Shoulder pad better. The angled ones make him look like his ducking into his shoulders for cover, like when you're scared and you push your shoulders up. It just looks wrong to me. The flat Shoulders work better for him.
I'm also liking the big arm cannons. Its a great design but He's no been etched in stoner in my must have Movie list.

After looking at the images again in the gallery, i agree with you and retract my earlier statement, he does look better with them flat, and if he had a different head and a oval missle launcher in the back i would totally see aTrailbreaker, but if he were painted red, he would be a perfect ironhide, the features would probably coe out better with a red paint scheme, just like In my opinion Ratchet should be in white with red rescue markings..
My etched in stone movie List includes:
Optimus prime
Megatron
Megatron FAB, he's cool with Ice..no punn intended..
Starscream
Starscream FAB, much better with hands..
Ironhide
Blackout, he's like the instant fan favorite, and will be what Boba Fett was to Star Wars, or Wolverine was to Marvel, i think he'll actually steal the show..
Barricade, but not crazy about frenzy, i'll glue him to the grill of the car and never use him..
Not sure:
Ratchet
Bumblebe, the regular line figure just looks awful and not very well done at all, the chest is wrong, the legs are all wrong, the arms are ok, but the helmet doesn't come down and he's not proportionate
Ultimate bumblebee, not a fan of the design of the chest and one arm just being a gun with no replacement..and again the battle mode not included..
Protoform Optimus, just seems cheap and not as large as the regular line up..but he's in the comic so i just might go that way..
Protoform SS, same deal as Optimus...
Wreckage, though great in bot form, his alt mode leaves something to be desired..
and that's where I stand so far..
