Anyone have an idea on what Powerglide's new deco is based on? Cause he didn't have a G2 toy, and the only thing I can think of is the 2008 Universe Ultra Powerglide.
Or maybe it's Bad Boy, but with all the Blue replaced with Red?

They should have included Alpha Bravo as the fourth Deluxe along with a plastic bag of gold dust labeled "Slingshot" "Quickslinger" instead.Autobot tap out wrote:Wow where is the g2 alpha bravo ? And the best part? NO ALPHA BRAVO!!! (yet)

Funny, they should've all been black weapons like the G2 ones. But I can see where Hasbro comes from, that ALL their weapons and hand/foot/weapon pieces are all distinct in color combination. If a hand/foot/weapon piece is a remold with the same primary color, the thumb joint has a different color. The only repeats are Firefly/Quickslinger and Alpha Bravo/Blades.

To be fair though, we've had about 21 years to get over it now. However, I did make a joke about it when I shared the story on Facebook.

Not crazy about Victorion's color scheme, but I am loving that combining sword she is wielding! I'm very intrigued by her hands and feet. Those are definitely not the traditional foot/fists we've seen so far. I hope these new ones are stowable in robot and vehicle. That's why I like the old ff's; they were passable as weaponry. I hope Victorion's are as well.

Like there aren't enough redecos of that turd already!
Too bad this is apparently giftset only. I totally get why it would be that way, but I really like how a couple look, however I don't like them all (much as I love Slingshot, gold is not his color, just what he's worth his weight in) certainly not enough to rebuy them all.

Would Masterpiece wheeljack be out of the question? He is the best there is and the only one that isn't a retool of a previous toy.

The previous Wheeljack is a great figure, but I have no idea what it currently goes for on the secondary market. If you can get it at a price you're willing to pay, I'd say go for it.
The TF Prime Wheeljack is also a great figure, btw. If you don't absolutely care that it be a Gen line figure, or that the aesthetic style is slightly different, that could be another option.

Clench was technically a "late-G1(.5)" release before it was repackaged and rereleased under the G2 label as Colossus.william-james88 wrote:

Oh man I forgot about Prime Wheeljack. Ok Joeprime, forget what I wrote, get that one instead. It's not too expensive and is an original mold (unlike these generation ones) and an amazing one at that. If you really need a more G1 style Wheeljack, I say go for the MP.

Unfortunately, yes. Out of my price range. They are gorgeous figures though. Out of curiosity what "size class" would they be considered (i.e. voyager, leader)?

I just checked eBay and the prices are quite fair for him; ranging between $15-$30 depending on condition. Now that I think of it, I may have gotten the TF Prime Wheeljack a while back. I'll have to check.
peaces wrote:the new wheeljack looks great, plus it combines. for accuracy the mp is better anyways.
That's really the only reason I would get the new one over the others that were previously released. Because he combines with the rest of the CW.

Not in the context of the times. It was only after G2 was on the way out the door that the crazy/neon color craze had run its course. My first few years of grade school, everything was neon colored, even my shoelaces. We were in the 90s dude. The future. Even the colors had to be different!william-james88 wrote:To be fair though, a lot of G2 looked like bootlegs with those colours
Then by '96 when Beast Wars rolled around, Tupac and Hollywood Hogan signed Monica Lewinsky to join The Backstreet Boys which ended the conflict in Mozambique, created the internet, and spurned Fred Durst to lead us into our new promised land of rap-rock albums.
I'm a 90s historian, by golly.

Speaking of Powerglide, I find it interesting Hasbro felt the need to retcon him in to a G2 throwback giftset. He was never released in G2. They could have skipped him altogether, charged the same price, and no one would have complained or thought anything suspicious of his lack of inclusion. If they're going to be so revisionist, why not go all the way and include a "G2" Alpha Bravo for maximum Scramble City action?

Is any of the retooling shared with CW Cyclonus? It looks like yes, but it's hard to tell without higher quality pictures.
Also, I wouldn't lose heart just yet that we're not getting Computron. Hasbro (or especially Takara) could release the rest of the Technobots later on. "Betatron" may be just a placeholder for the sake of toy advertising until they're ready to release a proper team for Scattorshot.

On one hand, I'm very impressed with how well those molds work as females, and the remolded parts are pretty cool. On the other hand, that color scheme is atrocious.

Seems to be a completely separate retooling from Cyclonus, being a completely different remold. The head is different for Robot and Combined mode (it's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure that's Computron's head in the promo art) and the top of the plane mold has new wings and fuselage (The tail fins seems mostly the same as Silverbolt).
It's not that often that a Voyager size mold sees multiple significantly different retools. I guess Hasbro is working on being more cost efficient in production?

With many airplane transformers, remolding is pretty easy. When most of the robot is just stored underneath the plane proper, you just have to make a new "jet backpack" and voila! You're done. No need to re-engineer a transformation scheme. Add a new headsulpt or two, and you're golden.

I wonder if Perfect Effect will make a blue set of fists and feet for G2 Superion. If not, the white set might work.
Does anyone have a shot of CW Menasor with Legends Thundercracker in his chest, if it can be done?

That is such a goopy hand painted prototype. I hope the colors come out better once she is molded in the appropriate plastics.
I dig her combiner head sculpt, and her dainty new hands and pointy shoes.
Did the fandom really vote on her having two AB's as limbs? Cop out?
Otherwise I'm excited to see more of her.

But did you predict that it would share the voyager wave with Bruticus and thus not get his own deluxes. Or that he would be called Betatron?
Here is the pic we have so far:
He was the mystery torso they didnt reveal at Botcon. Though its a huge bummer, it means he wont have his own team.
