This massive 2 feet tall Titan Class Autobot finally takes the long standing 26 year title as the tallest Transformers toy ever from fan-favorite Fortress Maximus. While Fort Max will always have a special place in the collections of Transformers fans across the world, Metroplex will undoubtedly shoot to the top as the must-have Transformers toy due to his sheer size, affordable price point, multitude of features, accessories and the fact that he's fully poseable (try putting your Fort Max into some action poses and you'll quickly see how Metroplex takes the top spot).
Metroplex comes complete with lights, sounds, articulated eyes, three massive cannons (one of which is a missile launcher), ramps, hidden cannons, a battle station mode, a city mode, and even comes with his Legends Class buddy Scamper.
"The most vast and mighty Autobot ever created, Metroplex is a member of a race long thought of as nothing more than legend. He is impossibly ancient, brought online in a time before the long memory of his Autobot comrades even began. He is a living artifact of an era when Cybertron was united, and needed defenders only against hostile outsiders. It is his memory of that peaceful past that drives him to fight for the Autobots. It is hope for the return of peace that motivates him to crush every Decepticon he can see beneath his mighty feet."
The biggest Autobot ever is over 2 feet tall and he's going to crush his Decepticon foes! This enormous 3-in-1 Metroplex figure's glowing eyes will make even the fiercest Decepticon think twice about taking him on. His lights and sounds make the action even more intense! In robot mode his firing missile will take them down, and he converts to battle vehicle mode when he needs some enormous firepower! He even converts to fortified city mode for massive adventures! He comes with a Scamper Legends figure to fight at his side. Make your Transformers adventures gigantic with this awesome Metroplex figure!

And this one takes the biscuit. Literally.

Too bad I don't have space for him/my girlfriend will never let that in the apartment.
Maybe if I rearrange the collection and put the MPs elsewhere...

Six months to a year for the developmental phase, then another six to pump them out and get them ready for shipping.
Just an educated guess, nothing more.

While I welcome such a move, I'd much rather see a Decepticon counterpart come out first: more specifically, Metroplex's rival, Trypticon. In the same size in height, please.
If they do indeed retool this into Fortress Maximus, I ask that they retool the head for the Headmaster-ception gimmick and also make his corresponding rival, Scorponok.

Has a toy roughly his size actually been significantly repainted by Hasbro in recent years? I'm talking genuine new decos, not color variants or new stuff added.

It was about damn time Metroplex would hit the Generations toys line! Of course, now, we NEED a Trypticon update like Metroplex got!
If this figure gets a re-deco, it will surely be Metrotitan.
Having a Generations Fort Max would be amazing too, and he would maybe regain his title as the biggest Tf ever made.. by towering Metroplex by a foot or two...

I'm really not sure which one is best to get-Hasbro or Takara?
See, I prefer the Takara deco, (chrome, extra gun) and being in UK, I'd order from Kapow toys, which at the moment has both for roughly the same price (just £5 difference)
BUT
Have we seen anything to suggest Takara's comes with all the stickers? I LOVE all those stickers and it may sound a bit crazy to some but if TT's doesn't have them...well
Thanks if anyone knows

I can see them not putting a launcher inside but they flat out neutered it with that wall at the top of the ramp so you can't roll a figure in and out of the tunnel. I don't get the thinking behind that.
Posted by Arctorro on July 4th, 2013 @ 8:08pm CDT
Doubtful that (if he is done) Trypticon will be the same height. His T-Rex mode would make him quite a bit longer which would translate to him being a bit shorter to keep the weight and costs down.Mindmaster wrote:LOST Cybertronian wrote:I am betting that Metroplex will be repainted into Fort Max.

Metrosex looks awesome!
Posted by Metrosuplex on July 4th, 2013 @ 9:04pm CDT
But he looks terrible with Deluxes. I think Metro deserves legend scale and smaller, just to get the right impression of how BIG Metro is supposed to be. I know the original Metro (G1) didn't exactly make room for Optimus and the bigger guys - you were supposed to pose him with BB and his tiny counterparts.
Just sayin', the deluxes standing there make Metro look silly...

Agreed on all 3 points, lol. The painted face made me want to go TakaraTomy. On the other hand, I love the chest sticker featuring my boy UM, Prime, Arcee, BB. It made Metroplex more 3D. I think TTomy is all solid red. Then the lack of space. I got away with FMax as he's now hidden inside the closet so the wife is okay with that.

Get a tiny tiny apartment?
And this will be problematic. No doubt I'm getting it, but when I move out... Ho boy.
Posted by Bouncy X on July 5th, 2013 @ 10:03am CDT
but yeah wow, this thing is massive. i dont have any of the smaller toys so it was hard getting a good idea of the size but i do still have my G1 Metroplex and knowing his size and seeing just how tiny he is next to this one....damn!!!
and i LOVE the Trypticon as a pet images...hilarious!
if this Titan line is truly the beginning of more....i wonder if they'd do a Unicron at this size. i already have that anniversary version so thats enough for me but damn i bet it be pretty cool, especially if he was as movie acurate as possible.

EunuchRon wrote:What I don't like about this Metroplex, and the pictures of the G1 Metroplex, is they never have the city mode transformed right on the G1 version, and you can't transform the new Metroplex to look like the G1 transformation in city mode from what I've seen of the leg articulation and the ramp placement. The G1's leg positioning looked like this:

Thanks for the pic, I never put him like that before
What bothers me about the launcing ramp on the titan metroplex is the vertical piece of plastic that prevents us to stick a figure inside the hull with the ramp extended... a very bad desing ther, its only flaw

Besides just leaving it in the gun?

Did you try the missile launcher yet? It shoots the missile pretty far. I'm just concerned that the missile will get shot out accidentally and I'll lose it.

First, of course, was Springer which you can see here.
And now, thanks to a drastic remolding and redeco, that same base figure has been turned into Sandstorm! And quite an impressive retooling, too.
We've provided a few images here to get your feet wet, but you can click on any of the pictures below to dive right into the full gallery.

As I've said before, now that we have another Decepticon Triplechanger coming down the pipe (granted, Doubledealer was technically not considered a traditional Triplechanger, despite having three modes), this gives me the perfect excuse for picking up Sandstorm.
Autobot032 wrote:Can you believe it's been almost 30 years since the debut of Springer and his mold mate Sandstorm?
Springer and Sandstorm have never shared a mold until now. Similar vehicle modes, but not the same mold, and they are not retooled from each other.

I should've clarified. I meant their current mold is shared. I was trying to say that Springer and Sandstorm are almost 30, period.
I'll correct that.

I hope this extensive level of retooling continues to be a trend, even if just for a few select molds.

Same here. I'd have almost no problem throwing money Hasbro's way if their remolds were as drastic as this.
Another good example is TakaraTomy's Jet Vehicon. The transformation on the torso is pretty much the same, plus their faces, but that's the end of it. Everything else is different, such as the wings (of course), the forearms are a completely new mold, the hood, etc. You get the idea. It was such a drastic change that standing them next to each other, you probably wouldn't be able to tell they shared the same mold at first. It always takes a second glance to be sure. Those are the remolds I like.

Noideaforaname wrote:As cool as the retooling is, and this is NOT a complaint, I do have to wonder why they did it. Seems like Sandstorm would've been more source-accurate with just the new head (lack of faceplate notwithstanding) and none of the VTOL bits.
The more different they look or the more distinct they are, the greater the chance of a sale with the less knowledge crowds. Think of it this way: ever seen Mega Man X and Zero side by side? They share a base, but their creator wanted to keep their silhouettes distinct to make them more unique from each other. When Axl was introduced, that's the advice he gave his designers
I hope this extensive level of retooling continues to be a trend, even if just for a few select molds.
Same here!

Even though I'm curently not considering getting Megatron & Chop Shop (or any of them besides Cosmos & Sky High, Swerve & Blast Master, and maybe Tailgate & whoever comes with him), I'm a little disappointed that Megatron is a teewee bit shorter than Optimus Prime.
Megatron Wolf wrote:i saw prime & bumblebee in walmart today & these are not worth $10, they're slightly bigger than a legends but smaller than a commander and yet they cost more that the latter.
I could have sworn they were in between a Commander and a Scout. If they're not, they're definitely the same size as a Commander. Plus, with the extra bit of plastic that are the Targetmaster partners, that could raise the price a dollar or two more. I'd say they're worth the &10 everyone's charging.
What sickens me more is that TRU will probably charge $13 or $15 for them.
My Toys "R" Us is charging $10 a piece for them so far. Keyword, "so far".

The only thing that is bigger on Sandstorm are those two huge wheels on his back. Everything is the same size.
