Featured eBay Auction #1
G2 ATB Megatron Stealth Bomber very rare MIB / Advanced Tactical Bomber Megatron MISB
Popular toy magazine, Lees Toy Review, is selling one of the rarest versions of Megatron ever made but not released -- (Advanced Tactical Bomber) ATB Megatron and Starscream. Here's their description of this extremely rare version of G2 Megatron which was slated at one point to be released in 1995 but was unfortunately canceled.
You are bidding on a very rare Hasbro Megatron Stealth Bomber. Only a handful were produced! The vehicle/figure is mint in a nice box and has never been opened. The box has a corner dent and a crease on the back. Also there is some minor edge wear. See picture for details. Winning bidder pays $9.00 shipping via UPS. International bidders are welcome but shipping may be more based on the country in which you live. We accept Paypal. We also combine shipping, so check our other G.I. Joe auctions and our eBay Store for more items! Good luck!

Well, if you've got enough money to spend five and a half grand on a transformer then I really don't think the cost of shipping is going to bother you much.
Gut punch...

I didn't realize there was even demand for this one, due to it not being official. Or maybe it was? I thought this wasn't, but I'm probably wrong. I think I'm confused due to there being an OTFCC and Botcon during that year (and 2003?)
Anyway, My thinking was way off. I wonder how much the G2 theme of Botcon and/or Breakdown figure for 2010 up'd the price?

I've seen it go for around $200 before in the past. Wasn't expecting it to double.
This item is technically "unofficial", but I imagine most people that own one consider it part of the official BotCon line-up. I really want to get my hands on it to check out the quality of the work on this. I believe they're hand painted.

Thanks a lot
Another interesting thing I just noticed is the AFA label; It says "Hasbro." Probably shouldn't have that since it was not official. Was this reproduced from the Sideswipe Action Master mold, or were 204 original Action Master Sideswipes actually gathered and redeco'd?
Anyway, auction's almost over. Who will win it, 0***p or b***b? Seems to be a mini-bidding war going on between them.

Someone's Action Master/Botcon collection has added quite the conversation piece, now.

I was more thinking TF fans have quite the conversation piece now. Honestly, I don't think that Breakdown is worth $700 or so dollars. I'm not sure the original 1994 BotCon Breakdown is worth that much. I think we can attribute this high price to a bidding war. Two bidders really wanted the piece. In turn, the market just shot up for Action Master Breakdown. I'd be embarrassed to say I paid $700 for that TF. That buyer clearly has too much disposable income.
There are a few TF toys I would pay $700+ for if I had the money. The 2004 BotCon Breakdown is not one of them.
EDIT: Lemme guess? The AFA grade also helped push the price up. Collectors seem to go bonkers over AFA graded TFs.

The original Breakdown goes for around $450. One just sold last week for that. In the last few seconds of this auction a new bidder came in around $700, and then one last bidder sniped for the win.
Personally, I wouldn't pay $10 for that figure (Well maybe I would to turn around and sell it However, IMO, everyone has or wants some figure as part of their collection no matter how ridiculous the price is. I know I have a few figures I paid more than I should have, but I wanted them. Often times, these figures you REALLY want hardly ever turn up, so you take what you can get at whatever price you can get it for.
I also have figures where I got a sweet deal, so it all evens out in the end, at least for me.
Anyway, I'm sure a few eyebrows were raised at the results of this auction. I would not be surprised if a few more turned up on eBay all of sudden. I'd be shocked if the prices reached these levels or levels respective of a non-AFA graded piece.
Another thing to consider is all the Spotlight Seibertron.com is shedding on these... may have something to do with the spike in interest, I'd like to believe.

Not me. I can't justify paying over $100 for any TFer period. And even at that, if i bought a TFer at $100, man that thing better be like Optimus Prime Awesome or its a no sale.
