January is almost over and it seems the new toys from the first wave of Transformers Legacy Evolution have all appeared at US retail, and all at Target. While we reported on the voyagers being found a little while ago, the deluxes have recently been found as have the core class figures. There are no new figures in first wave of leaders (just repacks), with leader Prime Skyquake being released in the second wave. The image below comes from Rob who posted about a sighting in SoCal on the Transformers Toys Facebook group.
In Canada, the first wave of deluxes has been slowly making its way to Gamestop stores and the core class figures were found at Walmart and Gamestop. There are no signs of the voyagers in Canada yet.

Still, for me, the most disappointing Lio Convoy toy is the MP, because it didn't come with Artemis as promised; if it had, I'd have bought it. Maybe her exclusion invoked some divine curse that will make all of his subsequent toys letdowns until it's lifted. There's precedent: Ironhide suffered a curse that prevented his ever getting a proper toy for decades, even screwing up his Masterpiece, right?
Maybe he'll end up having crossover appeal with Narnia fans who collected toys from The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe movie, but were disappointed Aslan didn't stick to the books' coloration.

The case is 2 Leo primes and 1 Tarn. So if you only saw 1leo prime at either of those locations, then it sold as well as Tarn.

Matter of fact, one Target had 2, the other had 1.
More telling, I didn't see any Earthspark yesterday, which all my local Targets did get a few cases of this month. There are still supply chain issues, but IDR the last time toys for a current TF toon got cleaned out that thoroughly that fast after release, leaving the smattering of last year's Legacy and SS offerings to tell the tale.
Plenty of elbow room for those deluxes, and all the Leo Primes looked ready to stretch out, relax, and enjoy the shelf space as long as possible. I might still get him next sale.

The one thing I thought was crazy was that a few weeks ago, the SS Voyager Ironhide/Galvatron cases were clogging my Target shelves as well. They all finally sold thanks to sales. So I was hoping they'd make room for Legacy Evolution. Nope, they ordered more cases of SS Ironhide and Galvatron

I think that we as collectors have unrealistic expectations for how toys are expected to move. Target did their reset what, two weeks ago? I don't think that's unrealistic for a case, and case assortments go months between. This also isn't as time-bound as movie products. Heck, Lightyear merch has been sitting on shelves for the better part of a year!
As for Legacy Evolution, didn't someone say they haven't even been coded in Target's system yet? I guess what I'm trying to get to is: be patient, it's still early, we'll see them soon.

That must have been fixed, well sort of, but in a good way. I found Tarn and Leo yesterday at Target (I already have Leo from Amazon). Oddly enough they were both hanging on a peg for Generations Voyager showing $29.99 that was newly put in place. Something else was on that peg last week. Went to the scanner and it also said $29.99, so I immediate bought Tarn and cancelled my Amazon pre-order.

Haha, so at least one Leo Prime sold. As for Earthspark, the initial batch sold very well too where I am but we did get them before Christmas so it wasn't unusual.

Some Targets still haven't done their reset yet. Some have. I don't see pegs for Legacy Anything at most of them. For me it's not about patience. I'm in no hurry. It's about wanting retailers to do better. I've got everything I want already from Legacy Evolution Wave 1 thanks to Amazon except for Scrapbook. If I see him at retail first, sobe it, and I'll cancel my Amazon pre order. If it ships from Amazon first, oh well, Target loses a sale. As for movie lines like Lightyear and Avatar, those are the biggest wastes of money. I don't expect companies to stop making them, but when even kids don't buy the product and it wastes space until it's clearanced out, you think somebody would catch on.

Some movies' toys are successful, some aren't. Licensors and toymakers are not going to stop pushing new product lines for fear of failure, they're going to keep doing it fl in hope of success. As for retailers, they have much bigger problems to worry about than optimizing their distribution of action figures to steal preorder sales from Amazon. I don't worry about the toy manufacturing, distribution, and sales supply chains since it's all a mess and it doesn't have anything to do with me.

He isn't bad, he's interesting for sure. I'm uncertain about his alt mode, it feels too chubby width wise and short height wise. And his robot mode is a bit weird too, the elbows feel a bit too high, and he really needed wrists. And his engine gun is a bit annoying with the pair of offset pegs.
But he seems neat. He has a lot of fun little gimmicky things on him like the axel-zooka and goggles.
So he's fun, he's interesting, but he's also a bit weird.

I haven't, and it's peculiar. I have an Evolution figure in hand from the shelf of Target, but those guys seem to be available only on Amazon. I at least want Starscream and Inferno.
They claimed at one point all the Legacy Leader Class figures will be available this year as well, so perhaps you'll eventually see the TM2 Megatron while I still wait for the repaint.

My local Targets also have the Evolution voyagers priced at $29.99. I didn't need more justification to buy Tarn, but it was a pleasant surprise.

This year's Voyagers are just gonna be weirdly light on new molds I guess, though, seeing as how everyone else we have listed other than the Junkion is a repaint (Nemesis Leo), repack (Dirge & Ramjet), or strongly suspected to be a retool (Bludgeon).

Does the Cyclonus base suggest his alt-mode will be comics-inspired rather than based on Masterforce?

Well, that's entirely unexpected: A Cyclonus retool. Who would have predicted that.
Very interesting, that's for sure. He is exceedingly accurate to the cartoon, I'll give them that.

As for Twincast, I don't want him at all, but I do want Rewind. This means that Rewind will be quite expensive...

And now, lo and behold, just over a decade later, Hasbro finally makes that suggestion a reality with the Kingdom Cyclonus mold.

I compared him to Kingdom Cyclonus, and Metalhawk reuses the shoulders and upper legs at the very least. He's not a retool in the strictest sense of the term, rather him reusing parts makes him a "partial".

Those shoulders and thighs are 100% Cyclonus'.

Twincast is a pass unless they maybe do netflix soundwave as new soundwave, I've not even got the shattered glass versions yet so he's wayback on my list of things to get either way.

Metalhawk being a partial Cyclonus is disappointing, that is probably my 2nd least favorite WFC voyager mold. At least if I don't want him or get him, I still have the TR one.
Hot Shot continues to baffle. I just can't get a good read on him. I am happy with him, he's just weird.
Posted by D-Maximal_Primal on January 30th, 2023 @ 6:51pm CST
Twincast is a straightforward repaint of Blaster in Headmaster's Twincast colors, complete with his gun and Rewind to complement the original Eject. Notably, this is the first generations update for Twincast, as unlike Soundblaster he has remained more obscure in the modern Transformers world.
Metalhawk is a bit more interesting, seeing as he appears to be a retool of Kingdom Cyclonus, with a robot mode focus in on his inner pretender shell robot form, with no "fleshy human" components like his old Botcon toy.
Both of these toys are anticipated to be revealed during tomorrow's Transformers livestream, starting at 11:00 AM EST.

At 1st I wasn't impressed with him, he seemed just ok. I definitely think his vehicle mode could be better, it's too flat. And I have the Universe version with which I'm satisfied.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Hot Shot continues to baffle. I just can't get a good read on him. I am happy with him, he's just weird.
But the more shots of him I see, the more he's growing on me, especially in robot mode. If I see him in stores, I'll probably pick him up. Jolt would have been nice, I gladly would have paid voyager price if the little guy was included.

Metalhawk is looking pretty cool, and I'm glad that the pretenders are different sizes. This way they can seem like their own faction and have some diversity, rather than all being core or all deluxe or all voyager. That would be so boring. Decepticon pretenders definitely need at least two more deluxes to flesh out their ranks, though. And if they do octopunch I hope he's a voyager. And of course more autobot pretenders would be needed to match up. I'm excited to see how Bludgeon ends up looking, whenever that's revealed
Posted by Emerje on January 30th, 2023 @ 8:31pm CST
Metalhawk is exactly as I expected (well, other than being based on Kingdom Cyclonus). The figure being based on the shell or including snap on armor never seemed like a possibility. We already know from BotCon that Transforming human shells just don't look right and snap on armor was never going to be an option at Voyager price unless we wanted a relatively small inner figure. From what we can see so far it looks like it'll be really good. Moving the wings from his forearms to the back of his upper arms is the right move and the further we get away from the IDW redesign the better! I suspect the alt mode will be a little closer to the Titans Return figure than anything else.
I'm really curious what his weapon will be. They don't show one in the photo, I can't imagine him coming with two guns so I'm thinking either something based on the shell's big gun or the sword.

Since they're redoing the Rumble and Frenzy cassettes, do we want them to continue with the smaller mold for Blaster's? I only ask because we aren't likely to see Rewind in the Core line without something extra and I doubt they'd double up. So they would certainly have to wait and do some type of 4-pk in Generations like the past one.
Personally I think I'm in favor of waiting for the newer molds to match Rumble's new size, at least for the bots, Steeljaw and Ramhorn could possibly get by without it.

Now that you mention it, yeah, if they ever end up making new toys of Landmine/Lander, Waverider/Diver, and/or Cloudburst/Phoenix, Metalhawk will be much bigger than his pals, whom he's supposed to be the same size as.o.supreme wrote:Not sure if it's because I'm used to the TR deluxe,or just watching Masterforce a lot, but Voyager seems to big for Metalhawk but it seems that is the size Hasbro is going for for most leaders. The amount of accessories they come with or extra engineering determines if they are bumped up to Leader or Commander.
Then again, they did also just do this same thing to Skullgrin towering over both Iguanus and Bomb-Burst, so I guess Hasbro just doesn't care, unfortunately.

Unless they meant for rewind to get a Core re-do like Rumble did
