The Transformers G1 Minibots are being reissued and while they have been available online, they have also been found in stores at Canadian Walmarts.
There are a few easter eggs (or interesting tidbits if you preffer) found behind the cards. Firstly, we see the Volkswagen logo behind Bumblebee's card, making it an officially licensed Volkswagen product. This is the first time we have ever seen this for the G1 Bumblebee toy and it is most probably due to Volkswagen's partnership this year with Paramount and Hasbro for all things Bumblebee.
Also, behind Outback's card, the instructions have Brawn instead of Outback, which we can tell from the robot face. This was also the case in the G1 instructions and it is funny that Hasbro chose to stay oldschool and include these erronious instructions rather than fix them. It adds to the nostalgia which is the whole point of these releases.

I guess its the same as all TLK BB and Optimus toys being officially licensed Western Star and Camaro products.

Yeah i mean could hasbro have reissued this toy whether they had the VW rights or not, and just added it there out of courtesy because of the masterpiece and movie VW toys?

As I wrote in the news, its to celebrate the partnership between them and the company now that they are fully attached to all things BB this year.

Additional point: this year is the year we're getting all the G1 (1980s) reissues because... that's when the Bumblebee movie is set. So everything can tie in to Total Brand Awareness.
(Ryan made this point on the podcast too, I believe, but I first heard him say it as it hit his mind at the convention.)

The trick is to use a pair of pointed/angular tweezers and to work around the nose first, pressing the sticker up against the upper nose and then working your way out to the sides of the eyes. Works like a charm every time!

Hot Rod is available on the Walmart online store for pre-order (again) at $29.84 US. He's eligible for free shipping if the listing is to be believed, and is expected to ship out in late August, around the 20th-to-21st mark.
Let us know if you plan on picking this toy up, by posting about it in the Energon Pub Forums! Don't forget to let your fellow Seibertronians know if you notice any of the other reissue figures coming into stock during your browsing, too. And as always, stay tuned to Seibertron.com for always more Transformers news!

On the previous releases maybe but the Platinum Seeker set's label sheet's adhesion were next to useless.

Oh well I still prefer the 80's logo to the super generic unified one they use on boxes in the past couple years. 80's logo design in general was just more imaginative and memorable than logo design of modern day toys, video games, movies and such.

Carnivius_Prime wrote:What an absolute rip off. The individual constructicons are barely worth even five bucks each for their size and simplicity and general brickiness. I liked G1 toys when they came out back in the 80s when they seemed more 'state of the art' but i really cannot see the point in a lot of them now other than curiosity or some remaining nostlagia and certainly wouldn't pay the prices Hasbro are asking for them.

They aren't 100 bucks for engineering, they're 100 bucks because Hasbro has to use the older type of material and the parts have to be thicker than newer stuff. There is also the die-cast content jacking the price. It also probably doesn't help that they likely had to repair the molds considering how many times the Constructicons have be released. That's not to mention that a complete G1 Devastator set will cost you well upwards of 100 bucks.
I think these reissues are generally geared to those who either want to display a set in box, those who want to get a set without worrying about them having accumulated 30+ years of ware without paying a fortune, and for those like me who weren't alive in the 80's to get a set if they want one.
As for packaging, I agree with you.

Yeah maybe but they're still way overpriced for what they are and can do. I'm no fan of G1 Devs and the modern update of the team is also expensive but you just get a lot more for your buck with that one, with bonus of being more too-accurate (if that's your thing) and articulated so muchly posable. Maybe I'm just looking at them without the nostalgia despite having grown up with 80's TF toys (but even then being frustrated with aspects of particular TF figures). The original seeker mold is one of my least fave TF toys (I had Thundercracker and thought it was a nice plane and a crappy robot, especially when i got Jetfire a short while later who blows it away and still holds up well even today as a quality product) so I can't see any worth in the G1 Starscream reissue seems worthless to me when there are far better toys of the character to choose from and often for much less cash. Oh well, enjoy. I'm done.

Slightly off topic, but my Encore 20A was so tight I didn't even transform Hook or Longhaul. The combined mode is rock solid on mine as well.

On the one I used to have, the crotch plate was iffy at best and Devy was stable like a house of cards.

For once folks, our faith has been rewarded.
He. Feels. GREAT. And I seriously hope it's not just my copy.
Each individual figure looks and feels fantastic. The plastic is top notch, and everything is tight and solid. The only thing so far that's worried me was Longhauls right arm was hard to pull out the first time, but since then its felt fine. Everybody transforms nicely and everything works (which is nice because one of the heads on my 20A broke and got lost inside his body).
Put'em all together, and you also get a pretty solid Devastator. I mean, he's not that solid to begin with but I doubt he could be any better than this one. All this kinda makes me sad that the beautifully painted 20A was such a dud.
But is he worth the steep cost of admission? I really think he is. The only negative I can come up with it the two shades of green plastic he seems to have, but I personally have no idea how Encore #20 (proper) or the original was. For a crisp quality G1 Devs, you can't do better than this unless you're dead set on proper vintage. I highly recommend him
*Don't mind my dusty 20A*

Don't get your hopes too high. The SCALPERS will snatch all these sets up before any sale ever happen. My only hope is that there's a silly over production of those reissues, just to shaft the scalpers good.
