We have been getting several reports of the Adlis store stocking up on Transformers toys for the holidays. Specifically wave 2 of Earthrise. Not only do they seem plentiful, but they are also discounted to $17.99.

We have reports from North Dakota, Illinois and more. So if you are curious and have an Aldi's nearby, it might be worth a visit. At least now we see where all the plentiful stock Hasbro was speaking about previously ended up. We thank everyone who sent this info out way. The photos below were given to us by adamage, GeekyGamer Gal and Seibertron himself.

What was that about Siege Astrotrain being rare?

Well, he was...and now we know it was just tail-end-temporary-misplacement-syndrome.

And as for your question about my response to the Gigawatt thread yesterday Will, I haven't seen him in my neck of Michigan yet, and it's tempting to go to a still-existent TRU just to see all this!

As for Aldi's...was the last time something like this happened for non-Rescue-Bots that deluxe Prime wave about 8 years ago, cases of which later showed up at select 5-belows? To think, 8 years ago I just assumed Big Bad's Impossible Toys blowout sale was the only opportunity I'd have to army-build Alicons! Ist ein Weihnachtsmiracle after the horrors of 2020!

I can get that. I do sometimes go to my toysrus stores just to see that the items are there in large quantity even if I don't buy them due to being too pricey for me.

Never said he was rare, just never saw one in a store until a few days ago. Missing standard retail and showing up at market 6 stores (in the US at least) is a failure of the system. How nice of you to show your store thousands of miles away has tons of them. Hasbro sucks at didtribution blah blah blah weve beaten this horse to death.

You said he might be:

o.supreme wrote:Not now, and certainly not out of package, but 10 years down the road, maybe more, it will probably go up in value. I didn't purchase it, but so many wildly variant blister cards of toys on eBay sometimes sell for crazy prices if they are considered "rare" variants.

I am confirming he is not.

Also, just a nugget of info, a multitude of Toysrus stores are just 30 miles from the US. So if anything was worth the trouble, US people on e-bay could hop over the boarder and buy out the stock to resell it, augmenting supply and reducing rarity.

These logistic issues are benefiting scalpers living in those areas.
How easy to buy discounted items and ship them off to those of us who can't even find this wave on store shelves :(

Fixed for ya.

Just like all those Rid2015 Kre-o sets, not at general retail in the U.S. Looks like the only ones going across the border to get those were scalpers. I begged Canadian fans for help but that didn't happen. Thankfully I did eventually get them at places like Ross/ Marshalls, but they were still heavily scalped.

This Aldi find reminds me of way back when I was collecting MOTU 200X. I had never been in an Aldi before that point, but when word got out on the internet that Aldi was going to be the ONLY place in the U.S. to find the first wave of "MOTU vs. Snake Men" figures, I had no other choice. Ended up getting a full-sized stand-up carboard display branded with the Master of the Universe logo. I had some of my unopened chase figures displayed in that for quite a while.

Aldi is indeed the ticket. I just got the entire wave minus Airwave (because I was never getting Airwave).

By contrast, Airwave is the only one from that wave I got (and wanted). By the way, I am a bit curious, why is this news so hot? Hasn't wave 2 been found for over a month now?

In my area, they are few and far in between. I found an Arcee and an Airwave in a month's time. I also found a Smokescreen box with an old insecticon figure in it.

I know people hate scalpers, but I hate cheaters far more.

I've seen them in the Chicago area for about a month and a half now, but they were a really slow trickle until the last 2 weeks.

Just a thought, the easiest way to get new stock is to clear the old stock off shelves. With the holidays around the corner, I know there are toy drives like Toys for Tots that really need donations this year.

I've been doing exactly this at my local Walgreens. Bought the last POTP Wreck-Gar almost a year ago and right after that Siege Ratchet popped up.

Only wave 2 I've seen in stores is Snapdragon and Doubledealer. There are no Aldis in Maine (even though there are 8 in New Hampshire  ) so that doesn't exactly help. Not that I need the help, I have all of wave 2 and most of wave 3 from Target.com, but I feel bad for other local collectors.

And Bluestreak continues to not be in my area. Checked two Walgreens Friday and still haven't found anything. One of the two removed their section for Marvel exclusives already (never saw anything on those pegs either) so I'm probably SOL finding these in person and will have to ask for help like I did last year.

Don't worry, even if you did get to preorder in time, Target may have just lied to you and not made the preorder anyways.

I'm really hoping Kingdom doesn't have as many exclusives because I'm just... sick of it. After Amazon and now Target, exclusives have become even more of a hassle than before. Ironically the exclusive that gave me the least trouble was Bluestreak.

I saw some TFW users have already found Runabouts in brick-and-mortar locations in supply comparable to that of SS Leadfoot, but Target is being Target and enforcing the fact that he's apparently street-dated for December 1st.

Just like I posted some other thread, how can Walmart and Target fuck up regularly what BBTS and Entertainment Earth seem to have no problem with. While they may get delayed, I have not heard of any independent stores straight canceling orders like Walmart and Target. These national chains have either shitty inventory systems or shitty people running those systems. And as long as Hasbro keeps giving them poop, this will continue to happen.

Edit: Lmao at the profanity filter

After scouring every Walgreens near me (and not so near me) on a broken toe for several weeks, I checked one by my local Kroger after a routine grocery run yesterday. I've checked here several times because, again, it's right there, with no luck, but my fortunes changed today and they had two Bluestreaks in stock, so I got one for me and one as a gift for a friend. Now I can never go into Walgreens again until we find out next year's exclusive. And at last after.... I dunno, maybe a month, my Datsuns are complete. (Except I need to replace Smokescreen because he has two left hands and some paint scratches). I also swapped Prowl's head with the Siege mold. The peg is larger and should probably be shaved a tad but it fits. (The reverse, not so much)

Anyway here they all are!

Same here. But I think Wave 2 is just now hitting saturation in some parts of the US despite first being sighted a few weeks ago. Aldi, while only accessible to a small group seems to be a guarantee as opposed to Walmart which is only a possible chance of finding them even now.

Unfortunately in California as big as we are, all we have is Walmart or Target, no smaller retailers that occasionally carry new toys. I've seen wave 2 at both chains now, btu it's only been n the last couple of weeks. I already have Fasttrack from Amazon (the only wave 3 deluxe I wanted), so I have no idea when wave 3 will show up in my area, despite it showing up in some other places already.

Made it to an Aldi close to me and after looking all over the store (which is not very big) I found them near the front with the Christmas stuff, directly across from some underwear. What a strange store. Food prices are legit, though, I should come here more often.

Anyway I nabbed two more Alicons, bringing me to 3, and a replacement for my southpaw Smokescreen. I think I'm good on Earthrise until wave 3 shows up.

Yes, you read that right. As is more often than we'd like, Target places these internal street dates on their toy releases. And yet, places those same toys on the shelves. Such is the case with Runabout, which has actually been found in Target stores. Some fans have been able to buy him by bringing another deluxe to be scanned at the cash for purchase. The first sightings were in New York state and the toys purchased were soon put on e-bay. He is priced as a standard Earthrise deluxe but has his own assortment code.

Oh I'm certain Runabout was not originally meant to be a Target exclusive *cough*Wave 4*cough*, I just thought that with Thrust and Runabout basically in the same discussion, they both had that small label. Oh well, Hasbro is anything but consistent.

He has his own assortment code according to the news item, so he's always been an exclusive, just not to Target maybe :P By contrast, TR Brainstorm was exclusive to Walgreens, yet had the regular Deluxe Class assortment code, indicating a last-minute change.

Wave 3 deluxes done and dusted (or more correctly going onto a shelf and dusted every other year). Skipping sunstreaked :(
Caved on Runa due to money off that can probably be put towards the other from some etailer scalper if it gets restocked.

It's been close to (if not more) than 3 weeks since I've seen any ER figures (minus the Clone 2 pack, and battle masters) at the local Target or Walmart...
I'm hoping this means any day now shelves will be full and the selection will be beyond what it's ever been in the last 6 months.

Yep, my local Target's and Walmarts' pegs are well stocked on Cyberverse, but there are only a few SS figures and no Earthrise Deluxe figures anywhere and Netflix is basically sold out at my two Walmarts.

I'm honestly curious how Target keeps getting exclusives from Hasbro in general, not just Transformers. Not only do they badly botch all of their exclusive releases, but they barely give any shelf space to their retail products. Walmart gives most classes multiple pegs and ample shelf space (despite passing on Battle Masters and Micromasters), same for things like G.I.Joe and Ghostbusters. Target, on the other hand, only gives each Transformers class one peg and the shelf space is a disorganized mess, while Ghostbusters get one peg and G.I.Joe gets one peg that's supposed to hold both regular and exclusive figures (and in my case currently full of overflow Ghostbusters figures). For some reason it feels like Target would rather people ask employees to get stuff from the stock room than to actually put stuff on shelves.

This is my Target as of last Friday. Too much old Siege stock (mainly that peg full of Battle Masters, a Megatron, and a few Shockwaves), too many things on the wrong shelves (that packed peg of Ghostbusters is supposed to be the 6" G.I.Joe peg), too much stuff on the wrong pegs and shelves (those Cyberverse Deluxes on the left are supposed to be on the right, Voyagers should be shifted over to the right), and that empty space in the middle under the Voyagers is for the Seeker 2 pack that they have never, ever had in stock. Does Target even have dedicated toy department staff? I never see any employees in that section while at Walmart there's always one or two people in the area stocking and arranging shelves.

At least they had two Leadfoots, I bought mine online because I had no faith in him showing up in store.

Sometimes when I see the toy section in a mess I'll try to clean up the TFs at least. I don't care about the other stuff and obviously I'm not going to devote too much time, but I figure I can at least put a few things back in the right spot.

Target gets a seat a the exclusives table because Toys R' Us' seat is now empty, as seen by the nearly 1:1 correlation between US target exclusives and canadian TRU, leadfoot included. Just file it away as another casualty of TRU's demise.

From my personal retail experience, at Toys R' Us of all places, (Stayed to the bitter end!) there's a combination of factors behind sloppy toy aisles (and retail aisles in general):

1. Customers are lazy and don't take the time to put things back in the right spot after looking at it, or if the changed their mind later. Especially if it's something the kiddo grabbed from three aisles over and only just now showed off only to be rejected. It's always worst in the toy and apparel departments, but it happens in every part of every store. Reshop, which is staff putting things back where they belong, helps with that, but it's time and staff intensive, so it's one of the first things to fall by the wayside when understaffed, especially in departments that don't have perishables.

2.There's a lot of departments in a store, and back of building storage is at a premium. Toys are only one department out of many, so only so much room in the back of house storage area is used for them. The rest is stored at distribution warehouses, who fill up semi trailers and send them out to multiple stores in a large area. The in-system requests for more stock generally occur only when something runs out, but that doesn't matter if the distribution center flat out doesn't have it. Even then, it can take up to two weeks for it to go from restock request to back on the shelves, on a first come first serve basis. If every store runs out, there's only so much product to go around to replace it.

3. If they run things similarly to TRU, which they likely do, since there's only so much wiggle room for different ways to cut corners on staffing to "optimize" payroll to profit ratios, there's 1-2 staff bolted into place at customer service, 1 stapled to the counter in electronics as theft deterrent, 3-5 hot glued to the checkout aisles as cashiers, and everyone else is responsible for every part of the store. There might be some degree of designated department, but that goes out the window the second a customer asks for help. Most places require employees to drop everything to help a customer, even if it takes them to the other side of the store from their current task. All of this is made worse by the fact that, if it takes a shift of 15 people to accomplish everything that needs to be done at high quality, but 10 people can get 95% of it done at barely adequate quality, 9 people are got scheduled and only 7 showed up.

4. Full shelves matter more than diverse shelves. The perception that the store is well stocked matters. If there are a multitude of gaps where GI Joe, Marvel and megablocks should be, the customer's thought process is (in theory) that the store doesn't bother keeping things in stock and so shops elsewhere. But if they instead see wall to wall transformers, bakugan and star wars, then the customer's thought process, if they even notice the lack of Joes, is that those are temporarily out of stock but the store is otherwise well stocked. To use a metaphor, looking busy working is more important than working productively. I think it's bogus, but that's what we were told.

5. While the other reasons are year round, this one only applies to this week. It is two days before Black Friday. There NEEDS to be stock on the shelves Black Friday, especially in the toy department. They absolutely are holding and have been holding stock to put out Thanksgiving night for the following day. They would rather have disappointing shelves for two weeks, and restock then, than restock now and risk things selling out before black friday and having disappointing shelves then.

All of these reasons feed into and exacerbate each other. If a customer puts something back on the wrong empty peg, an overworked staffer will put out the matching case that's all they have from the stockroom on that peg so it looks full without checking to make sure it's right because they have seven other tasks to do in the next 15 minutes alone because two of the five people on the floor got called up to work register for the next hour due to a rush, but their work still needs doing.

Finally got some wave 2 guys and Fasttrack. They were at a Toys R us further away from me ... they've been there for a few weeks, so I guess I'm lucky to have them now.

I decided to impulse buy Arcee. In the end I wanted to see how she was in-hand. I do like her better than just from pics, but ... yeah. The old one is just better overall. The new one is nice if you remove the backpack, but that's the only way she can win in bot mode and the old Arcee kills the competition in vehicle mode.

With an Alicon in my pile of loot at BBTS, I got the last two members I need for a fighting force of Alicons. His transformation is worse than the 3P Alicons, but he's still a very fun figure overall.

Fastrack was also there, so I guess I missed out on Runamuck for now. I like the Weaponizers. I wouldn't want a line of them, but there's just enough to keep them interesting. Not too many to make the entire concept lame, but enough to be varied.
