To those who didn't know, Diaclone is the Takara series of Transforming robot toys which eventually included the initial version of the G1 Transformer Toys Hasbro released for North America (G1 Optimus, Ratchet, Skids, Dinobots ect). The original release of those Diaclone toys had drivers, small figures that would fit inside seats (which explain why so many early G1 toys have seats and hidden compartments) and it seems even the drivers are getting a nice update with articulated figures, also pictured.
A small bit of coincidence, Diabattle used to fight the Waruder hordes, and it just so happens that those are the newly announced Botcon 2015 troop builders. So two totally left field updates from two different companies regarding the same property revealed the same day at two opposite ends of the world.
The photos below were found on Daim Choc's Facebook Page.

Thats exactly how I felt about Star Saber. He actually reminds me a lot of that figures

chuckdawg1999 wrote:I had a KO of this or the Diaking release as a child. I always wondered where it came from. Now that I think about it I fairly certain it was a KO, but made with Die-cast. Is Takara making this? It's kinda interesting that you said that this figure reminds you of Star Saber, Once Takara started making its own TF lines they tried to bring the series into more traditional Japanese mecha designs. For example a giant robot being made from multiple parts.
Taiwan made KO to be exact. So buying this once abvailable!

THIS
Wow! I thought nobody would care. I am glad to see others do. I actually downloaded these photos last night and was going to make it it's own thread. Just to see if anyone in here would give a dang. Thanks for making it news Will.
This is so awesome. The figures look like they might be about the same size as Super Microman and MagnePower Microman from the turn of the century. Of which are some of my favorite Microman redos.
For those asking, I don't see how or why this wouldn't be Takara's property.
I'm so following this toy all the way to my mail box.

Seriously though, that looks very nice

And now the part of my brain that wants everything even vaguely TF-connected to have actual continuity has kicked into borderline-conspiracy-gear!
1.) Is it really all just coincidence, or did FunPub get wind of this revival a year ago and decide on the Diaclone theme for most toys not in the box set, so they could bask in the trans-Pacific-synergy?
2.) Since the original Diaclone line suffered from an unbalanced hero-to-villain ratio (a disorder that led to the pre-Dinobots fighting random plastic dinosaurs in their commercial, implying the Waruder time portal had the dastardly side-effect of promoting other toy lines, thus breaching the great-fiction-barrier by shooting Takara in the foot), no matter how awesome the new MP-grade Warudaros is, they're gonna' need someone else to fight, so...
Will Diaclone get a stronger back-story that ties into Transformers? Like explaining that the heretofore non-TF-related mecha were the Quintessons' non-sentient military hardware from before they figured out how to bring their slaves to life with Vector Sigma?!? Oh, please, please, PLEASE let my personal-cartoon-canon finally come true...
3.) And speaking of giving them Waruda to fight, could this imply that we'll be getting Masterpiece Insecticons in the next couple years, with the redecos actually being Waruder mecha? And could the same logic apply to MP Dinobots, Trainbots, etc.?
As for this actual toy...it's nice. But I'm way more interested in MPs of Diaclone designs that I could repurpose into Space Transformers! Come on Diatron 3 Big Powered!
EDIT: Wow, great minds almost think alike on this, Maverick Prime! (I was referring of the first one)

Mkall wrote:Does this thing transform? If so, I'm in.
Sorta. Japanese Mecha is more about vehicles combining to form a robot. The original toy was two vehicles that came together with a few bits folding and heavy parts forming to complete the look.

I am pretty certain. They all transformed in the past and these are transforming toys, so I dont see why an "MP style" version wouldnt. If you are wondering what it transforms into, here is a pic of previous ones in that category, its a lot like Star Sabre.

Mkall wrote:Does this thing transform? If so, I'm in.
I tried a little research. I assumed he turned into a couple of vehicles. As is the schtick for most these old piolted Diaclone toys. I just wasn't sure how many Diabattle turned into.
I found a funny review of an 80's knockoff of the original called KING DAM Three in One.
http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/plastic/king_dam_3_1
So he turns into 3 space vehicles.
pics from the review
You Know what I love more than these goofy old toys? Super awesome modern updates of these goofy old toys.
Edit: Chuck, was this the one you had?

Will, I think those might be concept boards for MORE new Diaclone toys. Eh?

This is like a dream come true. I will buy this and I will hope that in supporting this, it will encourage them to maybe make Diaattacker and some of the Warudas as well. This along with the awesome looking Machine Robo updates and all the great combiner wars stuff and I think my girlfriend will murder me for my toy buying habits... I'm in trouble. lol.

You just keep what you do on your desk to yourself Mister. There are young minds here that don't need to see that sort of stuff.

Your wish has been granted by Fun Pub. The BotCon 2015 comic story was a like a Transformers/Diaclone crossover in which the Waruders invaded Cybertron and two Diaclones came to help the Transformers fight them off.Burn wrote:I don't know what story line exists for this particular line, but what I'd like to see is a "cross-over". Railbomb wrote: Really curious how big the pilots are compared to some of the recent generations toys like Hot Spot or Whirl or Jetfire/Thundercracker that seem to have a place about the same size for a pilot (or in Hot Spots case a firefighter for his bucket).
I think they are the same size as the originals. The one in the middle is the reboot. The other two are OGs.
The originals are just a little too big for Hot Spot's bucket, but it's still fun.

I am also silently hoping that this means some of the OG Diaclone/ Diakron toys might get a reissue as well down the line.
Regardless of whether that happens, I am interested to see more and more of these guys.

That looks pretty cool. I like how it has a retro feel to it, very late seventies, eighties feel to the whole animated sequence.

Nothing on price yet. Or size for that matter. Judging from the comparison of the old and new pilots, I bet this toy is small. Each vehicle could be as small as a deluxe. the pilots are teeny weeny tiny. In fact, *grabs a pilot and a ruler*, 1 and 1/8 inch.NuclearConvoy wrote:Hellscream9999 wrote:Shame, really, that these look to be so big and (assumingly) expensive I've never had the money to buy masterpiece or larger figures, and these look great, since they are apparently megazords done right (poseable) I would be all over these if they were smaller (voyager-ultra class) and less expensive.

Unless the OG toys came with bigger pilots than what came with the Diaclone release TFs.

That's actually really good to know. Easier to shoehorn onto my shelves if it's not ginormous. My girlfriend actually understands why I love diaclone so much when I explained to her the interesting back and forth history of Transformers between Japan and North America. She probably won't complain when she sees this. Lol. She's never complained about my collection before, but I am anticipating that as it continues to grow she may think otherwise.
