These pictures settle it, this figure is a definite pass. It's not the worst figure I've ever seen, but certainly not worth the MP price tag it comes with.

Take a look at this and tell me if you see what I see:
These pics portray a really small waist which makes the robot look really weird when posed. And that I find is the biggest detractment of an MP figure. These figures are made to recreate the G1 show/movie look as close as possible so these are the figures that we'd use to recreate classic scenes and poses. And that huge upper body atop that tiny waist just doesnt work when posing him in any way aside from standing straight. No pose using the waist swivel seems to work so far. It looks bad, really really bad . I will be waiting for reviews and Seibertron's gallery to see if this can be salvaged.
Also, what is up with the orange flap and the red chest here, are they telling us that they are 2 different pieces, I dont get it.

Ironhidensh wrote:yes, I noticed that as well. Just one of the many, many flaws this figure seems to have. Every single photo I see of it, just screams lazy to me. Is it the worst figure ever made? No, of course not. For $80, however, I expect a whole hell of a lot more out of my money
kind of my thoughts too. It doesn't scream masterpiece to me, which is disappointing. Same sort of thing with Tracks: for a masterpiece, you could expect a bit more

That's his collar. It is a separate piece from the car hood chest. Higher quality images of the figure show there to be a seam that separates the collar from the rest of the hood, as the collar (and head) is replaced by the car's exposed engine in vehicle mode.william-james88 wrote:Also, what is up with the orange flap and the red chest here, are they telling us that they are 2 different pieces, I dont get it.

Oh yeah, definitely. I think it may have been there on the first release, but continuous re-use has given everyone mold-fatigue. I know I didn't go 'whoa' until shockwave was revealed.

I personally feel I got a lot more toy out of the 40-60$ spent on an MP car rather than the 190$ spent on MP 10.

While the figure itself didn't do it for me - due to his not looking like a transformer - but the mechanisms and storage certainly made mny jaw drop .

Bee and Saber were pretty different. I love watching reviews of the guys because there was so much going on on either a very big or very small frame, and it was unlike anything seen before.

Na I feel the idea behind Masterpiece starting at MP10 is starting at the cartoon model and ignoring the toy completely while salvaging the engineering developed in the previous incarnation of the line.

Staring at pictures for long periods of time is not good for your health. may lead to double/impaired/poor vision and as a result poor attempts at performing even basic tasks as long as symptoms last

Ideally hot rod will let us swivel his head the other way. Until it's out in the wild, don't think it's fair to judge it so harshly based on assumptions...

Whoa there, hang on. That's what the interweb is all about. If you cut that out all you are left with is shopping and boobies.

The next real whoa wasn't until MP-08. Grimlock was a big damn whoa. The only complaint I have ever heard about it is the height which since they decreased the scale of the line isn't really a factor for most anymore.
MP-09's whoa started out high but decreased sharply with a whole host of issues. Still, much whoa at the Zod household for any Rodimus. I admit to bias.
MP-10 had the biggest whoa since MP-01. Straight up rewhoaing over a beautiful figure. MP-11 tried to ride the rewhoaing but, while impressive in its own right, not much whoa in something we've seen a bunch and knew we'd be seeing a lot more of. Starscream by nature has negative whoa. Which sucks because I like him. MP-10B had a harder fight but more than made its own whoa. I actually like the mold better in black because of it.
MP-13 and crew may have the highest combined whoa of the line. Getting them all together is like kaioken times 20 whoa. About as close as possible to a perfect whoa.
Had to wait a bit for more whoa but we got it back to back in MP-21 & 22. Bumblebee is more whoa than Soundwave on his own and is just carved out of solid whoa, blessed by pure whoa, and smiled upon by the gods of whoa. He'd be a perfect whoa if Soundwave and the cassettes hadn't raised the whoa limit. Ultra Magnus is a different kind of whoa. He's a whoa of mass and engineering. A huge technical whoa is still a whoa.
Hot Rod, Shockwave, Ironhide, even Optimus Primal all still have their whoa level pending until release and review. Shockwave is expected to keep his high whoa while speculation is that Optimus Primal may have the highest whoa levels ever recorded.
End result is that Hot Rod is still positive net whoa until proper testing is completed.
Note: All G2 versions have additional whoa added to the original. Hence G2 Sideswipe has whoa like crazy over Sideswipe. Obviously the same is true for Bumblebee. Thus they were not included in the ranking due to skewing the curve and unfairly decreasing whoa across the board. G2 Bumblebee is perfect whoa.

I whoaed all over Wheeljack, but there is something extra special about Exhaust. Could just be the taboo nature of his existence, and that blue translucent plastic, and head sculpt whoa me right in the whoa zone.

Personally, Star Saber has no whoa and it just looks like a Gundam model to me. Rather than judge it harshly, I opted not to at all. Between the loss of whoa due to not TF but rather Diaclone and the Marlboro issues and the positive post release whoa of scarcity of originals but overabundance of KOs, I find that Exhaust balances back to about Wheeljack's level of whoa, ie pretty good for the Autobot cars but still in the lull between Soundwave and Bumblebee. A worthy effort for a repaint.

I felt the same way about star saber, didn't really feel like a tf, but a victory leo mp combiner would do it. The whoa for me with him was the brainmaster - or whatever - mechanics, seeing them all work in the reviews was awesome.
