That's the bad handling of Artworks! They just chopped off the pic by the sword!

the first one we saw looked way better pass for me.

Of course it looked better! The first one was Hasbro's photoshopped promotional image, the new pictures are what it will actually look like.

A little bit more metallic color would do it justice. The brown plastic kinda makes it look cheap.

Awesome. Must-buy for me. I just got the "gold" Cybertron one (not the white one) in the mail today! I love the figure, and I think this new repaint is badass!

I like it, But is their any background or bio for this Vector Prime that we know of yet?

The black & silver look great... but the brown ruin it, look out of place, look like brown poop and make his head and legs have no paints details like the original VP.

I noticed Hasbro finally painted the wings but only the outer side...

I hope Hasbro isn't using the cheap, flimsy rubber-stuff, whatever is for the wings and sword, but sadly, it looks to be the case. Probably still pick him up, though. :-B

this is why i dont like repaints most of the time some repaints look like this and this one looks like something pooped on it i would really like to see the golde and silver version in the us store versions hit shelves.

not this brown version if we get this brown version ill study the figure very close do i want it that bad or get the orginal off line with colors added time will tell

For the 3rd official coloring of this, 4th official release in the US, 5th official release worldwide, and 6th release including botcon...They could have afforded some extra paint aps...

Sheesh.

Why does he look so great in those previous pics but so shitty now? Damn it, Hasbro! I want a toy that looks like the one on the back of the box not the one in the box.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I said I liked this repaint, but if these new pics are what it really looks like I'll probably pass.

I'm not familiar with the old Vector Prime toy.

Is this a repaint? Or entirely new mould?

It's about the 4th different color application we have seen applied to mold, 3 in the states, 1 in Japan. 1 in the states was a Botcon exclusive, but still...

Ok.

Vector Prime is the ancient Transformer/guardian of Primus sent to right the wrongs in the Cybertron series.

His US release was colored incorrectly. His Japanese release was colored more correctly.

He had a US redeco in gold and black (with a confusing title).

His body was used to make the BotCon toy 'Alpha Trion' with a new head mold. (Very very nice)

This incarnation is a repaint made to look like the 'Last Autobot'.

I almost ripped on you for not looking into this a little or at least reading the thread. Almost.

But...it's hard for those of us who have been around WAY before the movie sometimes to understand the perspective of the new gen of fans.

So....

Everybody gets one.

i think that rule is nullified when said fan has 13 thousand posts...

more on topic...crappy bendy sword with a paint job, yay!

One more use of the mould won't hurt. I was a fan of the character in the show, and an obscure homage makes the G1 in my wet myself with excitment.

Actually, i'm an old fan. I just missed out of the Cybertron/Energon/Armada series due to studies.

Well, the picture i saw yesterday was really nice. Looks like sparkling new mold. But i don't have the old pics, and i don't remember very well this character to tell if it's a new mold or not.

Today's pic looks more like the old one. Then i read about "repaint" in this thread.

So i'm kinda confused if yesterday's figure is a new one, and today's figure is a repaint of the way old one. Or that we're talking of today's pic as a repaint of yesterday's pic.

Thanks for clearing it up.

I posted comparison shots between the Hi Res, HASBRO images they use for advertising, packages, etc., and the image that is posted of what the toy will look like when it is in everybody's hands. There is quite a difference, and one is certainly much poorer looking than the other. Guess which is which?

For Auto Bot and all those not in the know about Vector Prime.

This toy is just a repaint. since the Galleries are not fully functional right now, I give you some pics to compare of the various versions of this mold that have been released.

Original Hasbro Cybertron Vector Prime:

Original Takara Galaxy Force Vector Prime

Hasbro's Repaint. and misleadingly labeled Galaxy Force Vector Prime yet still part of the Cybertron Line:

Hasbro's newest repaint of the figure, for the 25th Anniversary Universe Line: Vectro Prime a.k.a Last Autobot.

I love repaints. It's true, it's damn true.

This sucks though.

Subsequent mold releases are supposed to grant us improved paint decos.

I fear this chilled economic wind is going to see a reversion to the days of yore where Transformers are simply 'toys' rather than 'brand product' (the later being something which Hasbro shows workmanship pride in).

well, the signs are showing my good sir:
-very sloppy paint apps on universe, movie
-animated qc
-sizes (at least in animated) getting a bit smaller

i've never had to return a tf to the store up until a year ago. and i've been collecting for quite some time.
this vector prime/l.a. repaint is the writing on the wall.

damnit... anyone else had errors trying to post replies?..

...anyway. i was saying.. does this look like a half naked chocolate bar to anyone else?..

i have the galaxy force repaint of this mould.. (the one with orange wings to avoid the aforementioned name confusion) which im guna go over with a fine detail brush..

its a shame that so many repaints are so.. lack-luster.. that plus the sheer amount of detail on this mould, not even given an ink wash... hence why im breaking out the paint and said brush on mine.. i can imagine it looking amazing when its done.. ill be sure to share with you guys..

but yeah.. pass on this universe repaint.. i appreciate what their trying to do.. but.. meh... registers as an epic fail at my end im afraid..

I don't have any problem with all the brown on this new repaint; I actually really like the overall paint scheme. But I agree that the lack of detail in the paint is disappointing, especially compared to the previous version of the figure. Mostly that complaint applies to the bot mode; the alt mode is very sweet looking.
