Ooh, Last Knight toy news seems to just be boiling over by now, doesn't it? Well, we've got another piece to add to the pile, but this time it's from the other side of the transformers spectrum, TakaraTomy. And while we've all been oogling the newly-leaked Hasbro Barricade, Bumblebee, and Beserker, this is actually one of the first times we've heard anything regarding TLK from Taktom.

Coming from the Asian hobby store Loopaza, we have a near-complete rundown of the first Last Knight wave we'll be getting, as well as when we'll be getting it. They also reference a "Speed Changer" subline, which is expected to be Takara's version of the "Turbo Change" Hasbro line (Part of which was also leaked recently) Check out their full statement and the image they provided from one of their wholesale contacts.

I want to kmow why DLK-005DX is priced at 4500Y instead of 2800Y? :-?

It's "DX" for "deluxe", right?

I'm pretty sure there are no names on that list because most of the time until official photos are released they don't list character names just product and a number afterwards like #17

The Katakana says "Speed Change" ("Supīdo Chenji") rather than the Loopaza's claim of "Speed Changer" (which also claims Hasbro's Turbo Change is "Turbo Changer").

Turbo Change sounds more likely to me.
But the did call that AOE line "Power Attackers" not 'Power Attack'
Though I also saw them listed online as "Power Battlers" too.
---------

I wonder if the UV reactant paint will change in sunlight or require you to buy a cheap Chinese Black light to get them to work...

I may go buy one of them anyway.

But shining UV on plastic isn't the greatest of ideas - but my Gi Joe Zartan/Zarana & Zandar seem fine and I had them sitting on window sills to change colour more than once.

I wonder why they don't tend to use Glow in the dark much ?

It's "DX" for "deluxe", right?

Maybe but not in the sense of Class. Its more like how its used to mean that it gives you the most, like DX kabaya kits or Deluxe Megazords that combine compared to the ones that dont. Like in French, c'est la version de luxe ;) (thats how Japan uses that word)

Its the voyager prime, for sure.

PlasmaShot360 wrote:I wish I could read Japanese/Chinese.

You will notice that they are all the same characters repeated for each toy, so it just tells you the assortment, not the character.

Also, for the UV reactive paint, the sun has UV light. I think this just means glow in the dark.

About the "DX": it looks like that unlike with Lost Age and Adventure, TakaraTomy is going to lump all the toys in a single range, so no "LA vs. MA" or "TAV vs. TED". The "DX" figures are the Generations-like ones vs. the simplified ones. Like Will said, think about the early days of Chougokin with combining "DX" vs. the simpler "STD" toys. That said, don't expect them to keep the "DX" for the finalized names.

What's also remarkable is that TakaraTomy keeps the US title of the movie. :-?

Also, the DX range is skipping letters, which leads me to believe that the same letters refer to the same characters. G is Optimus Prime, while A, C, E, and F we know are Bumblebee, Beserker, Barricade and an unknown character Dinobot Slash. A, B, C and D, appear in the Turbo/Speed Change line, two of them being Hound and Barricade. Characters A and C appear in both, so Barricade has to be one of those letters.

It is definitley more expensive than any other Prime movie helmet that has recently been on the market, but since it's priced just as much as Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series helmets this must be made with collectors in mind.

All signs seem to be that Optimus is going to become "Silver Knight" Optimus at the end of this Movie - which is going to give the impression that the AOE toyline was Nostradamus for That and for Dinobot Slash.

[edit] P.s.

O hope the Slash Deluxe they make is coloured to fill in a gap in one of the existing boxed sets he's missing from that would be perfect.

Marvel and Star Wars are at that price point because they are licensed figures and therefore have an added cost. Hasbro pays no one for the TF license. And Deluxe TFs are already being sold for $20 before the movie ones are coming out so that podcast is just talking because they have nothing else to talk about.
Re: Listings for First Wave of Takara Transformers: The Last Knight toys discovered (1855432)

Depends where you shop.

Hut yes I agree even with the different material costs involved that Transformers are globally better distributed than Marvel they should be able to keep the cost down.

I tend to feel they'd get away with $20.00 more when they look like they made an effort - so I was fine paying $20.00 for Brainstorm has he had nice tampographs.

If he'd had the same gosh awful stickers Voyager Megatron had then I'd not been very impressed.

I'm already disinclined to pay retail as it is and lowering product quality isn't going to persuade me otherwise.

Also You just know the One-step like toys will end up cheap somewhere pretty quickly so there would be a big discrepancy in cost then for a toy that would only be a wee bit bigger.

Also as much as Hasbro may not want to admit it they are also in competition with KO's now and for $20.00 there is a sea of top quality KO's available instead.

TakaraTomy (and in the case of the movie Paramount as well). TakaraTomy and Hasbro may share the brand, but it's the former who's the de facto owner of the name as crazy as it sounds.

As for the price hikes (Deluxes are still $15 or so where I shop), either Hasbro is trying to streamline things so other lines don't suffer from Transformers' lower prices (why not lower the prices on the other lines?), or Paramount negotiated a bigger cut somehow.

Or it could be because the Premier Edition Deluxes are boxed now instead of carded.

Use of licensed car modes increases the costs - but yeah there is a limit to what people will pay for a typical vanilla Deluxe like Slash when they can look up and see a leader that is several times the size and only a bit more than double the price.

Not to mention the average price of AOE deluxe Dinobot on eBay is about $7.00

Same as always, they have an in at the factory. Its been happening for as long as I have been a fan. They usually risk it for higher profile figures, like this first wave of movie line figures. Dont know if they will do it for trypticon too. I know your eager, and I hope you get that fix the soonest possible. Cheers!

Remember when we announced that Hasbro Toy Shop had that Last Knight Optimus Prime voice-changing helmet? Well, it appears that the helmet is now starting to show up online at other retailers. Toys R Us has now listed the helmet as "in stock" on their website, meaning that the helmet is now hitting major retailers.

If this helmet is something that interests you, you can head on over to Toys R Us or Hasbro Toy Shop and order yours today! The price on Toys R Us is $79.99 as well, meaning this is the normal retail price for the helmet. Order up, and let us know if you plan to buy one in the comments section below. I'm starting to think more and more that the deluxe Bumblebee we've seen isn't supposed to represent the version we've seen in the trailers and in filming. The Camaro we've seen for most of Bumblebee's scenes so far has a black roof that continues onto the trunk lid, something this deluxe Bumblebee is noticeably missing. I know paint apps are becoming more minimal, but I don't think hasbro would leave that out. Maybe just wishful thinking, but I think Bumblebee may have a bit of a different look at the beginning of the movie that this figure is based on.

We know for sure that Bee will look different in the movie. He goes back to his more Movie 3 design with the car door wings and the front of the camaro as the chest, so re-releasing this thing except worse is really strange

I think they will do th same they did for evasion mode prime, with BB having 2 forms in the film. One early one similar to his AOE form (hence why they rerelease the same toy) and then he will change into looking like what we see in the trailer and we will have a new toy for that too. So this rerelease of bumblebee might as well be called evasion mode bumblebee ;)

By the way guys, an insider posted that regarding the Nuremberg fair, Hasbro has security super tight and not only should we expect no images, but it requires extra access to even get into the hasbro booth even if one is already invited to the show. So we wont be getting any reactions or descriptions either. The only thing we know is that they revealed all the movie toys they have to show. But we knew we would see these at Toyfair anyways.

There will probably be no news coming from the Nuremberg Toy Fair due to Hasbro's beefed up security but we do have a new detail coming from Portugal since details regarding their offering of The Last Knight products were sent out today. TFW2005 member fallen_revenge translated the details that reveal a new class we had not heard of before: Armor Up Changers. These are the equivalent of three step toys which will have a battle mask gimick. No new images were revealed, that will have to wait until toy fair, in two weeks.

The same news also stated that Portugal will only be getting 6 deluxes instead of the scheduled 12 deluxes already listed in North America. One other detail of note is that their offerings include 0 leader class figures as part of the main line. This was originally speculated due to the absense of that class in the listings found on Amazon. We do know we are getting a redeco of AOE Leader Prime but it seems to not be part of the main line, same with the Masterpiece Movie toys.

I guess that depends on how you define counting. The new Premier molds will most certainly be in the same style as the rest of the new figures in the line, but the packaging for the main line will probably be closer to the traditional stuff. I'm thinking we'll see the Deluxe Premier stuff officially announced just before Toy Fair (on Facebook or a random online magazine as they've done in the past) with the real line being previewed at the show.

What I want to know is if they'll still release Barricade in the main line? There's nothing particularly exceptional about his paint, articulation, or transformation from what we can see. Doesn't seem like it would be the same case as Prime First Edition versus the simpler main line. Since the Premier line will probably cost more it would be nice to have a cheaper alternative.

No leader class? :???: I wonder why. Is it because Hasbro has placed budget cuts for the TLK toylike, or because Hasbro has placed most of its budget on role-playing helmets and simple One-Step and Three-Step Changers?

To those wondering about the Premier Editions, this is just the new name for Movie Generations, now that the Generations Prime Wars line will continue concurrently with the movie figures. People are misreading 'Premier' as 'premiere' and assuming they're a kind of first edition. There are listing for figures using code names of Amazon.com that are labelled 'Gen', but on Amazon.ca the same listings are labelled 'Pre'. Also when Shadow Spark Optimus and MPM Bumblebee were revealed at the event in Hong Kong the Hasbro marketing rep stated that Premier Edition is the 'movie accurate' line.

They count, for sure. That first wave we found matches up with the listings of the mainline we found on amazon a month ago, with the first wave being 4 characters where one is Bumblebee.

I have no clue why they have to bother with the edition conotation, especially sicne the paint isnt premium and the name reffers more to the fact that these are released first instead of how they have superior quality.

Maye they saw that the leader class doesnt sell too well and chose to instead concentrate on items that sold better and have better margins.

There will be Leader figures. Shadow Spark Optimus is Asia exclusive, but from previous info http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/the-last-knight-figure-listings.1096474/page-4#post-14238517, there will be others. No idea if they'll be exclusives or repaints only. Remember, this is info regarding Portugal only. On Amazon there are 12 deluxes and 6 Voyagers listed, so already more than's described here.

See my previous comment re it being Premier and not Premiere, and how it's the replacement for Movie Generations. Yeah, they're definitely not Platinum Edition quality but I'm guessing the label is used to distinguish the 'traditional' line from the simpler figures and encourage collectors.

Definition of premier
1 : first in position, rank, or importance
2 : first in time : earliest

Definition of premiere
: premier
Origin and Etymology of premiere
alteration of 'premier'

(from websters online dictionary)

So what distinction are we trying to draw here if the word means "First" that is all I can really infer from it.

As has been previously implied there is nothing about these $20.00 deluxes that screams platinium or premium quality here. they seem to simply be out first.

I suppose someone could be using the word due to the movie connotation of film premieres

-------

But i'm still not sure if the first 4 or 6 deluxes will be boxed then they will change to carded toys - or if the whole line looks like this.

I'll tell you right now i'm not buying that repaint Bumblebee for £15.00 let alone for £20.00 I'm happy to buy a darker toned Slash or The dread or barry for £12.00 to £15.00 if I'm feeling the need to buy something in a few months.

But frankly It would be a better use of my money to spend that money on Takara movie toys. (especially Starscream and Ratchet) not to mention a lot is happening soon in 3rd party and premium-KO's that are a better bang for my buck.

But i'm fond of barry so I'll likely get him as soon as is reasonable.

I do wish they'd reissued dlx Soundwave though as he's a tricky fella to get in deluxe from - I can understand why they'd not do Dlx leadfoot due to expense of renewing the NASCAR licence - and he is supposed to be getting KO'd soon anyway in his unreleased sponsored deco to boot- so that is less of an issue.

I dont even know why anyone would buy that bumblebee if they already have a previous BB using the ROTF design since that is basically what this one is going back to.

There are quite a few meanings for premier, and I'm guessing the ones Hasbro are going with are 'top-tier', 'highest', 'second to none' and of course 'prime'. It means 'first' but in the sense of rank or status etc. rather than first chronologically. Premier and premiere did originate from the same word, but they've gained slightly different uses. Kind of how skirt and shirt came for the same Norse word. The hotel chain Premier Inn isn't claiming to be the first ever hotels, but rather the best; the Premier League is the the football league for the top tier clubs.

Obviously Hasbro is really exaggerating the quality here, but I suppose compared to the one steps these are the best.

ranking;
informaltop-notch, crack

of earliest creation.
"he holds the premier barony in the UK—created in 1269"

"the Italian premier"
(in Australia and Canada) the chief minister of a government of a state or province.

I can't see they'd be boxing the first wave of deluxes but not the rest. I'm guessing they're doing that to further distinguish them from the simpler figures. The AOE deluxes and power battlers got very easily mixed up on the pegs.

Oh I get it now, its to distinguish from other more simple figures. That makes sense since it wasnt always obvious with AOE (like Strafe).

Thanks!

That can't be the actual reasoning since Generations Age of Extinction ran concurrently with Generations Thrilling 30 in 2014. More likely they're just trying to avoid any possible retailer confusion this time around since it was a bad idea already the last time.

I have this horrible thought despite the sales figures showing the "Generations" line is pretty popular that they might throw all 3 other mainline under the bus for what seems to be a line of partial repaints.

The really tragic thing is they had a real chance to redeem themselves here with something like a new mould really good 1970's Bumblebee Deluxe.

I'm frankly kind of perplexed what they are going to put in the "Legends" class movie toy releases.

Squeeks certainly - but what else ?

Now if it was me I'd be using the excuse of the 10th Anniversary and making smaller toys of Wheelie, Brains, Igor, Frenzy, The Kitchen Crew, even Alice.

For example they never made a Bunny-bot toy or Frenzy as a Mobile phone.

If they just make the same characters as usual in a smaller size I really won't see the point of that.

It would be fine for a gimic subline for example the scout size RID toys with Minicons and armour if they made something like that only with Movie characters - I'd be up for that.

-------

Anyone got any ideas what they might do with the Legends class (movie) line? as I'm perplexed.

It says "Autobots Stobotua", or just "Autobots Autobots" with one upside down.

I imagine they'll just pad it with small versions of the movie cast just like every Legends (and Cyberverse) line before it. This isn't going to be like the Scout class from the earlier movies, this is going to blend a lot of different sized characters into one line.
